Coimbatore Institute of Technology offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Doctoral programs. CIT follows the semester-wise academic curriculum and the academic year is separated into the Odd and Even semester. Coimbatore Institute of Technology conducts two Mid-term examinations and one Term-end examination in each semester. The examination is conducted in the month of November (Odd Semester) and in the month of April-May (Even Semester).

Two 6 months internships are mandatory as a part of the course. One is during 7th semester and another one is during 10th semester. Instead of examinations these internship projects will be evaluated and marks were given. Internship opportunities was given by college management.
